Autumn Symphony

Aspen trees, especially in autumn, are one of my favorite landscape subjects to paint! I saw these aspens in Grand Teton National Park on my first autumn trip to Wyoming. The clouds keep moving in and out which provided a dramatic backdrop of darker blues and violets to compliment the vibrant yellows. I used a lot of impasto paint so that the texture would imply the feeling of masses of leaves without having to render them individually.
